Red Brick Emporium wasn’t born from some grand business plan.
It started in 2014, in my red brick home, at a time when I knew I needed a career change. I loved beautiful things, I loved creating, and somewhere between “What if I tried this?” and “Can I actually pull this off?” — Red Brick Emporium began.
There was no crystal-clear vision of where it would lead. Just an idea, a willingness to figure things out as I went, and a healthy dose of determination.
And somehow, that little idea grew.
It grew beyond the walls of my home and into a storefront in downtown Perth. It grew into workshops around big tables, furniture transformations, beautiful things arriving in boxes, familiar faces walking through the door, and conversations that often lasted much longer than the shopping.
For more than a decade, Red Brick wasn’t just a shop. It became a part of me, and it still is.
The storefront may be gone, but everything I loved about Red Brick is still here. This next chapter is just lighter, easier, and just as beautiful.
After a decade, I realized I was ready for something different.
Closing the storefront wasn't about walking away from Red Brick. In a funny way, it was about finding my way back to the parts of it I loved most: creating, curating, hunting for something special, connecting with people and having the freedom to follow an idea simply because it excites me.
So here we are. No four walls. No perfectly mapped out plan.
Apparently, some things don't change.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
The story behind the old things.
My love of vintage is deeply connected to my parents.
They taught me that something doesn’t need to be new to have value. That there’s beauty in things that have been used, loved, repaired and kept. That a home is built over time — not purchased all at once.
So the vintage collection at Red Brick is especially personal to me. It’s my little homage to them.
To the things they taught me, the home and family they created, and an appreciation for pieces that carry a bit of history with them.
Every vintage piece I bring to Red Brick will be chosen individually — not because it’s perfect, but because it has character, craftsmanship or simply that something simply just wants to make me want to bring it home.
Old things. New things. Funny things.
Life can be wonderful and messy and difficult and ridiculous — sometimes all in the same week. And through a lot of it, humour has always been one of the things that gets me through.
That's what I want our cards to do. They are not meant to be precious or say the same thing you've read a hundred times before.
They're designed to make someone laugh out loud, roll their eyes, raise an eyebrow or immediately show the person standing next to them... whether they know them or not!
So, what is Red Brick now?
- It's still evolving, and I actually love that.
- It's an online shop filled with things I have chosen because I would put them in my own home, give them to someone I love, or simply purchase because it made me smile.
- It's vintage treasures and beautiful new finds.
- It's creativity and workshops.
- It's the satisfaction of giving something old a completly new life.
- It's cards that occasionally cross the line.
- And it's an excuse for me to keep hunting for beautiful things.
After more than a decade of Red Brick, I’ve learned that the best parts were never really about having a storefront.
They were about creating, connecting, finding beauty in unexpected places and sharing a whole lot of laughs along the way.
So while Red Brick looks a little different these days, its heart hasn’t changed.
